Client & Challenge

L’ange Hair is a Los Angeles based manufacturer of hair & face cosmetics, having its own ecommerce store. They produce various kinds of hair-focused cosmetics, such as shampoos, brushes, conditioners and many others. L’ange Hair e-commerce store is one of the biggest e-commerce stores in the US focused primarily on haircare. We’ve been approached by L’Ange Hair CTO in May 2019. They needed to switch the development provider after the previous developers failed to meet the objectives. The main challenge were expectations - the client required developers that were on Senior & Tech Lead levels in terms of frontend, with excellent communication skills, ability to learn & work with Shopify and proven experience in optimizing frontend performance.Another challenge was also the time gap - Los Angeles is 9 hours behind Poland, which is where the team is based. Therefore, this project required the very best engineers of our frontend team, but also very good communicators. Is also required from the team to adjust their working hours in a way that would provide a minimum 3 hours of communication window with the client’s team based in LA.

Right after receiving the inquiry we provided the client with the propositions of team members out of our frontend team. We picked the engineers that in our opinion fit best client requirements with regards to both hard & soft skills. The client started interviewing the candidates provided by Gecko Dynamics and other candidates. After several interviews he picked the 2 candidates that we provided. We then initially started with the team of 2 Senior Frontend Developers, one of them being a tech-lead. After 6 months, being happy with the results of cooperation and seeing positive business outcome, the client requested to scale the team up to 5 developers by adding 2 additional frontend developers and 1 backend developer. The team continued in such composition for 1 year, after which the client requested to add a QA Engineer and Project Manager to the team to help with managing the tasks. Additionally, in the interim QA Automation Engineer joined the team for a few months to cover the platform with the automation tests. As a result, the team working for the client on an ongoing basis was scaled up to 4 Frontend Developers, 1 Backend Developer and 1 QA Engineer. The team now continues working for the client, providing quality that helped the client to increase the revenue by more than 100% over the past year.
